Her light-filled interiors and fresh landscapes contain strong graphic compositions, which divide space with broad planes of color, to which she adds her distinct Realist detail to highlight the subject matter. She completes her major paintings in her New York studio, working from her en plein air studies and collaged photographs. Dalton Brown is able to portray an acute sense of time and place in her work by her masterful rendering of light and shadow.\r\rBorn in Pennsylvania, Dalton Brown studied art at the prestigious Académie Julian in Paris, and graduated from Oberlin College in Ohio. His extraordinary draftsmanship, which stressed balance and clarity of outline, became a hallmark of his style. He worked in many media, preferring pastel to all others, and is best known for his intimate, immediate drawings of ballerinas and race horses.\r\rThe son of a wealthy Parisian banker, Degas originally planned to study law but opted to follow his early idol, the painter Jean Auguste Ingres, whose example pointed him in the direction of classical draftsmanship. After beginning his artistic studies with Louis Lamothes, a pupil of Ingres, he started classes at the Êcole des Beaux-Arts but left in 1854 and went to Italy. He stayed there for five years, studying Italian art, especially Renaissance works.\r\rReturning to Paris, Degas came to know Manet, and in the late 1860s he turned to contemporary themes where his subjects frequently conveyed an element of psychological tension. His Post-Impressionist work hauntingly conveyed through forceful color, aggressive brushwork and contoured forms, the anguish of a mental illness that eventually resulted in suicide.After failing in both his career and love life, van Gogh turned inward, pursuing a position in the ministry. In 1880, disenchanted with priesthood, he discovered art as his new mission. The artist's earliest works were scenes of peasant life, but after a trip to Paris in 1886, where he encountered the works of the Impressionists and the Japanese prints en vogue at the time, he dramatically transformed his style from darkly colored realism to vibrant expressionism.Inspired by the beauty of rural Arles, he moved there in 1888, but continued to struggle with nervous crisis and depression, and after one particularly severe episode, committed himself to an asylum at St. Remy. While hospitalized, he continued to paint and produced one of his most compelling works, The Starry Night. In 1900, after being awarded a scholarship to pursue his artistic ambitions, the artist moved to Paris and enrolled at the cole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts.\r\rWhile the Impressionist-dominated Parisian art scene had a profound impact on Dufy's early landscapes, the artist attended an exhibition of the Salon des Independants of 1905 and was struck by the dazzling colors of Matisse and the Fauvist group. This encounter radically changed the artist's approach to painting. Dufy immediately began to incorporate the lively brush strokes and brilliant color of Fauvism into his work.\r\rWorking primarily in watercolor, the artist developed a signature technique of highly stylized calligraphic drawings accented with washes of bold color. His travels around the Mediterranean provided inspiration for many of the artist's best known paintings and the cheerful theme of the seaside is a recurring motif in his work. These immensely popular works exude spontaneity with their exuberant color and dynamic line.\r\rDufy extended the range of his oeuvre with innovative fabric design, book illustration, ceramics and tapestry. An unparalleled colorist, Dufy's highly decorative works retain a level of freshness and verve that have made them popular with modern audiences. After receiving a degree from the Department of Stage Design, Shanghai Theatre Academy (famous for its Western-style landscape painting training program), he was appointed to teach painting and stage design there. In 1986, he relocated to the United States after receiving an invitation to give his first solo exhibition in New York.\r\rZhen-Huan Lu’s disciplined background in life study, western painting techniques and both western and eastern aesthetics, led to his development of a unique American style of poetic realism that aims to make visible the invisibles through his skillful portrayal of familiar scenes and objects. His training also led him to develop equal skill in watercolor, egg tempera, and oil painting; three disparate and difficult media to master.\r\rAlthough people are never depicted in his landscape paintings, Lu’s keen interest remains in human life and emotions; whether it be rocking chairs on the porch on a lazy afternoon or a pair of oars against an aged beach house, human spirit is always present. His most famous works are the “Flag” paintings, completed during World War I.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0223/4033/products/H2422_96370a4e-cee7-4736-bdf6-99d426810e65.jpg?v=1599060970
Image © Cyril Réguerre\r
\r
About the Artist
Born in 1970, Cyril Réguerre is a French artist living and painting in Paris, France. All Rights Reserved.

About the Artist
Henri Marie Raymond de Toulouse-Lautrec Monfa was born in Albi, Tarn in the Midi-Pyrénées région of France, the firstborn child of Comte Alphonse and Comtesse Adèle de Toulouse-Lautrec. An aristocratic family (descendants of the Counts of Toulouse) that had recently fallen on hard times, the Toulouse-Lautrecs were feeling the effects of the inbreeding of past generations; the Comte and Comtesse themselves were first cousins, and Henri suffered from a number of congenital health conditions attributed to this tradition of inbreeding (see below). A younger brother was born to the family on 28 August 1867, but died the following year.

Throughout his career, which spanned less than 20 years, Toulouse-Lautrec created 737 canvases,
275 watercolors, 363 prints and posters, 5,084 drawings, some ceramic and stained glass work, and an unknown number of lost works. Toulouse-Lautrec is known along with Cezanne, Van Gogh, and Gaugin as one of the greatest painters of the Post-Impressionist period. His debt to the Impressionists, in particular the more figurative painters Manet and Degas, is apparent. In the works of Toulouse-Lautrec can be seen many parallels to Manet's bored barmaid at A Bar at the Folies-Bergère and the behind-the-scenes ballet dancers of Degas. He excelled at capturing people in their working environment, with the colour and the movement of the gaudy night-life present, but the glamour stripped away. He was masterly at capturing crowd scenes in which the figures are highly individualised. At the time that they were painted, the individual figures in his larger paintings could be identified by silhouette alone, and the names of many of these characters have been recorded. His treatment of his subject matter, whether as portraits, scenes of Parisian night-life, or intimate studies, has been described as both sympathetic and dispassionate.

Toulous-Lautrec's skilled depiction of people relied on his painterly style which is highly linear and gives great emphasis to contour. He often applied the paint in long, thin brushstrokes which often leave much of the board on which they are painted showing through. Many of his works may best be described as drawings in coloured paint.

After Toulouse-Lautrec's death, his mother, the Comtesse Adèle Toulouse-Lautrec, and Maurice Joyant, his art dealer, promoted his art. His mother contributed funds for a museum to be built in Albi, his birthplace, to house his works. As of 2005, his paintings had sold for as much as US$14.5 million.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0223/4033/products/L4637_04acce5c-a338-43d4-afeb-f32b11866af9.jpg?v=1642189844
john-singer-sargent-rehearsal-of-the-pasdeloup-orchestra-at-the-cirque-dhiver-about-1879-80
Rehearsal of the Pasdeloup Orchestra at the Cirque d'Hiver, about 1879–80
Image is Copyrighted and Property of its respective owner\r
\r
About the Artist
John Singer Sargent, an American painter, was born in Italy but spent most of his adult life in London. She spent her early years traveling in Europe with her wealthy family. After attending the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (1860 – 65) she later studied in Paris, copying Old Masters. In 1874 Cassatt chose Paris as her permanent residence and established her studio there. She shared with the Impressionists an interest in experiment and in the use of bright colours inspired by the out-of-doors. Edgar Degas became her friend, and at his request she exhibited with the Impressionists. She portrayed scenes of everyday life, particularly images of mothers and children, and was skilled at drawing and printmaking. Some of her best works were executed in pastel. July 22, 1882, Nyack, N.Y., U.S. — d. May 15, 1967, New York, N.Y.) was an American painter. He was initially trained as an illustrator but later studied painting with Robert Henri. In 1913 he exhibited in the Armory Show but spent much of his time on advertising art and illustrative etchings. In the mid 1920s he turned to watercolours and oil paintings of urban life. His House by the Railroad (1925) and Room in Brooklyn (1932) depict still, anonymous figures within geometric building forms, producing the haunting sense of isolation that was to be his hallmark. He used light to isolate figures and objects, as in Early Sunday Morning (1930) and Nighthawks (1942). His mature style was already formed in the 1920s; his later development showed constant refinement and an even greater mastery of light.\r\r
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0223/4033/collections/tags_5266a654-9a9b-4a2b-b66e-cc153d36bdb0.jpg?v=1484771858
