The youngest of five children, Andrew was a sickly child who had to be pulled out of school after contracting whooping cough. He was home-schooled by his parents in every subject including art education. His father, Newel Convers Wyeth, was a well known illustrator whose art was featured in many magazines, calendars, posters and murals. Andrew had a vivid memory and fantastic imagination that led to a great fascination for art. His father recognized an obvious raw talent that had to be nurtured. While his father taught him the basics of traditional academic drawing Andrew began painting watercolor studies of the rocky coast and the sea in Port Clyde Maine. He worked primarily in watercolors and egg tempera and often used shades of brown and grey. He held his first one-man show of watercolors painted around the family’s summer home at Port Clyde, Maine in 1937. It was a great success that would lead to many more. Wyeth married Betsey James at the age of twenty-two and had two boys, Nicholas who became an art dealer, and James who became the third generation artist in his family. Andrew was featured on the cover of American Artist as well as many other famous magazines such as the Saturday Evening Post that displayed his painting "The Hunter". His first solo museum exhibition was presented in 1951 at the Farnsworth Art Museum. Since then he has seen many more successes and is considered one of the most "collectible" living artist’s of our time.
©/®/™ 2026
The
Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc.

About the Artist
Andy Warhol was born Andrew Warhola in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1928. The attack was nearly fatal.

At the start of the 1970s, Warhol began publishing Interview magazine and renewed his focus on painting. Works created in this decade include Maos, Skulls, Hammer and Sickles, Torsos and Shadows and many commissioned portraits. Warhol also published The Philosophy of Andy Warhol (from A to B and Back Again). Firmly established as a major 20th-century artist and international celebrity, Warhol exhibited his work extensively in museums and galleries around the world.

The artist began the 1980s with the publication of POPism: The Warhol '60s and with exhibitions of Portraits of Jews of the Twentieth Century and the Retrospectives and Reversal series. He also created two cable television shows, "Andy Warhol's TV" in 1982 and "Andy Warhol's Fifteen Minutes" for MTV in 1986. His paintings from the 1980s include The Last Suppers, Rorschachs and, in a return to his first great theme of Pop, a series called Ads. Warhol also engaged in a series of collaborations with younger artists, including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Francesco Clemente and Keith Haring.

Following routine gall bladder surgery, Andy Warhol died February 22, 1987. After his burial in Pittsburgh, his friends and associates organized a memorial mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York that was attended by more than 2,000 people.

In late 1987, The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts was duly incorporated in accordance with Warhol’s will, whose mission is for the advancement of the visual arts. In 1989, the Museum of Modern Art in New York had a major retrospective of his works.

Finally, The Andy Warhol Museum opened in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in May 1994.
Image is Copyrighted and Property of its respective owner\r
\r
About the Artist
Carlos Casamayor was born and raised in Madrid, Spain. He was a self taught artist who began painting in 1880 after a twenty-year career as a customs officer. While attempting to seek recognition for his work, he was rejected by the Salon in 1885, but was accepted the following year by the jury-free Societe des Artistes Independants.\r\rRousseau's art has generally been considered avant-garde, although there is evidence of the Neo-Classicist influence in his precise definition of forms and the smooth finish to his paintings. Apprenticed to a woodcut engraver at 15, he became a student of the leading ukiyo-e master, Katsukawa Shunsho, in 1778. His first published works, prints of kabuki actors, appeared the following year. He soon turned to historical and landscape subjects and prints of children. He developed an eclectic style and achieved success with book illustrations and surimono prints ("printed things" for special occasions, such as cards and announcements), picture books and novelettes, erotic books and album prints, paintings, and ink sketches. He experimented with Western-style perspective and use of colour and later concentrated on samurai themes and Chinese subjects. His Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji (1826 – 33), a series of prints, marked a summit in the history of the Japanese landscape print; in grandeur of concept and skill of execution there was little approaching it before and nothing to surpass it later. Ray is highly regarded for his detailed rural landscapes and antique still lifes. However, he explains, the real subject of my work is not the aging farm buildings, the rustic old mills or the antiqued crocks and jugs. The real subject is their surfaces. “I am intrigued by the texture of a crumbling stone wall, the splintered wood of an old wagon or the way the light reflects off a piece of hand-turned stoneware…the signs of wear and hard use. How many stories they must have to tell”. \rOver the years, Ray has developed a number of texturing methods to accurately depict these signs of aging. He compiled many of them in a book titled, “Texture Techniques for Winning Watercolors”, published by Northlight and released in November of 1999 (now out of print).\rRay’s work has been published, as prints, by Primrose Press, Galaxy of Graphics, and most recently, by Bruce McGaw Graphics. His work has appeared in many books and magazines such as Splash 3, Splash 4, Splash 9, Palette Talk, Bucks Country Magazine, County Line Magazine, American Artist, Artist’s Magazine and Chinese Watercolor, an art magazine published in Beijing, China.\rRay is represented by several galleries in southeastern Pennsylvania. His father's mental illness profoundly affected Munch and the deeply personal statements of his paintings echoed his troubled life: "Sickness, insanity and death were the angels that surrounded my cradle and they have followed me throughout my life."

Munch began his studies in 1881 at the Royal School of Design of Kristiania (later Oslo). In 1885 the artist traveled to Paris where he first encountered the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works of Manet and Cezanne. While stylistically influenced by the Post- Impressionists, Munch's subject matter is Symbolist in content, depicting a state of mind rather than an external reality. During his career Munch traveled between Norway, Paris and Berlin and was a prominent member of avant-garde circles in each locale.

At the turn of the century, while in Berlin, Munch began experimenting with a variety of new mediums, including photography, color lithography and woodcuts, in many instances re-working his older imagery. During the Nazi era, his works were labeled "degenerate art" and were removed from German museums. A tremendously prolific artist and one of the most influential of the period, Munch's probing controversial psychological imagery continues to captivate modern audiences.
© Salvador Dalí, Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí / Artists Rights Society (ARS), New York, 2022

About the Artist

Dali transformed the definition of Surrealism, expressing the unconscious process of thought, dream and associated realities through his paintings and drawings. In 1900, after being awarded a scholarship to pursue his artistic ambitions, the artist moved to Paris and enrolled at the cole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts.\r\rWhile the Impressionist-dominated Parisian art scene had a profound impact on Dufy's early landscapes, the artist attended an exhibition of the Salon des Independants of 1905 and was struck by the dazzling colors of Matisse and the Fauvist group. This encounter radically changed the artist's approach to painting. Dufy immediately began to incorporate the lively brush strokes and brilliant color of Fauvism into his work.\r\rWorking primarily in watercolor, the artist developed a signature technique of highly stylized calligraphic drawings accented with washes of bold color. His travels around the Mediterranean provided inspiration for many of the artist's best known paintings and the cheerful theme of the seaside is a recurring motif in his work. These immensely popular works exude spontaneity with their exuberant color and dynamic line.\r\rDufy extended the range of his oeuvre with innovative fabric design, book illustration, ceramics and tapestry. Appropriately, it is one of his pictures, Impression: Sunrise, which gave the group of artists painting in this style its name.\r\rBorn in Paris, Monet attended L’Academie Suisse from 1859-60 and subsequently enrolled in the studio of Glenyre, where he met Renoir and Sisley, with whom he formed the nucleus of the Impressionist group. He organized the first Impressionist exhibit in 1874 and became the group’s leader, initiator and unswerving advocate. Irregular shapes of green and blue cover the canvas, reminiscent of the brilliant marine hues that convey water in 19th century Japanese woodblock prints. Close inspection reveals rough, textured surfaces from the thick application of media on linen, including oil, acrylic and oil pastel, reiterating the earthly and organic nature of her subject.\r\rThroughout her life, Margaret Juul has been privileged to enjoy a gift of inventive creativity.\rAfter training in fine art studies at Chicago’s Columbia College, she furthered her advanced education in interior design at The International Academy of Design and Technology. By 2007, she had accumulated an extraordinary portfolio, as well as acceptance into the prestigious International Interior Design Association; specializing in color, custom textiles, décor and fine art selection. One of the highlights of her diverse artistic career came in 2009, when the Iraq Museum International requested her image “Rough Wake” for the International Poster Exhibition at their museum in Baghdad. ”Rough Wake” would remain on display there for nearly two years. A collection of the 'Reflections' series was acquired in March 2014 and added to the newly remodeled NYU Surgical Center Endocrine and Diabetes Suite at the main patient facility; 550 First Avenue, NYC. The work was procured directly through exclusive NYU Artists Acquisitions Department. Not only was it was an honor, but also a high point in her career. Margaret’s artistic life has always been inspired by the Sea. From the shores of her New York birthplace and on to Chicago’s Lake Michigan- to the spectacular tropics of Tampa Bay where she currently resides, water has held an unwavering hold on her spirit — fluidity, intuition and reflective volatility. \r \rAs a successful professional artist and designer for more than two decades, she has cultivated a long list of devoted supporters.
