That experience taught him how to think fast, work in difficult situations, compose quickly, and above all, to be patient, which has been a huge benefit when working in landscape photography.\r\rIf there's a theme that runs through his photographs, it's the theme of Beauty. Inspired by the quiet beauty of the landscape, he often looks for large, bold areas of color in his images, and a sense of order in the natural world. Hudson started out using black and white film and printing in a traditional wet darkroom; color printing was expensive and difficult to do correctly. Today though, more of his images are in color than black and white. But, due to his monochrome 'upbringing', he still shoots very selectively– there has to be a good reason to shoot in color.\r\rMichael Hudson has been a professional photographer for over twenty years. It has allowed him to work on commercial assignments, while giving him the freedom to travel the world in search of beauty. His fine art images hang in private and corporate collections, and have been used on numerous book covers and in magazines. Hudson was born in Sydney, Australia, and grew up in Australia, the United States, and England, eventually settling in Illinois. I also shot weddings and portraits running both these businesses out of my home while my sons grew.  In 2000 I moved the businesses to Main Street, Morrisville and also opened Haymaker Card and Gift.  I also began a new journey with kayak, camera and pen to observe and record the lifecycle of loons. After receiving a degree from the Department of Stage Design, Shanghai Theatre Academy (famous for its Western-style landscape painting training program), he was appointed to teach painting and stage design there. In 1986, he relocated to the United States after receiving an invitation to give his first solo exhibition in New York.\r\rZhen-Huan Lu’s disciplined background in life study, western painting techniques and both western and eastern aesthetics, led to his development of a unique American style of poetic realism that aims to make visible the invisibles through his skillful portrayal of familiar scenes and objects. His training also led him to develop equal skill in watercolor, egg tempera, and oil painting; three disparate and difficult media to master.\r\rAlthough people are never depicted in his landscape paintings, Lu’s keen interest remains in human life and emotions; whether it be rocking chairs on the porch on a lazy afternoon or a pair of oars against an aged beach house, human spirit is always present. After receiving a degree from the Department of Stage Design, Shanghai Theatre Academy (famous for its Western-style landscape painting training program), he was appointed to teach painting and stage design there. In 1986, he relocated to the United States after receiving an invitation to give his first solo exhibition in New York.\r\rZhen-Huan Lu’s disciplined background in life study, western painting techniques and both western and eastern aesthetics, led to his development of a unique American style of poetic realism that aims to make visible the invisibles through his skillful portrayal of familiar scenes and objects. Many of the timber and stone barns and mills, the houses and outbuildings, which are part of the Pennsylvania heritage, are rapidly disappearing. I'd like to feel, in a way, that I have preserved them in my paintings.\"\r\rBrad has been drawing and painting most of his life, his early inspiration and guidance coming from his artist father (Ray Hendershot, also published by McGaw Graphics).\r\rUsing a representational approach in his painting, most of Brad's work has been in the water-media. Ray is highly regarded for his detailed rural landscapes and antique still lifes.  However, he explains, the real subject of my work is not the aging farm buildings, the rustic old mills or the antiqued crocks and jugs.  The real subject is their surfaces.  “I am intrigued by the texture of a crumbling stone wall, the splintered wood of an old wagon or the way the light reflects off a piece of hand-turned stoneware…the signs of wear and hard use.  How many stories they must have to tell”.  \rOver the years, Ray has developed a number of texturing methods to accurately depict these signs of aging.  He compiled many of them in a book titled, “Texture Techniques for Winning Watercolors”, published by Northlight and released in November of 1999 (now out of print).\rRay’s work has been published, as prints, by Primrose Press, Galaxy of Graphics, and most recently, by Bruce McGaw Graphics.  His work has appeared in many books and magazines such as Splash 3, Splash 4, Splash 9, Palette Talk, Bucks Country Magazine, County Line Magazine, American Artist, Artist’s Magazine and Chinese Watercolor, an art magazine published in Beijing, China.\rRay is represented by several galleries in southeastern Pennsylvania.  He is an elected signature member of the American Watercolor Society, The National Watercolor Society, The Pennsylvania Watercolor Society (also awarded Sylvan Grouse Guild member status of the society), The Philadelphia Watercolor Society (recipient of the Crest Award for continued excellence), and the International Society of Acrylic Painters.  He has been the recipient of many awards for his work in national and international exhibitions and has had numerous one-man shows.  He is listed in “Who’s Who in American Art”. After receiving a degree from the Department of Stage Design, Shanghai Theatre Academy (famous for its Western-style landscape painting training program), he was appointed to teach painting and stage design there. In 1986, he relocated to the United States after receiving an invitation to give his first solo exhibition in New York.\r\rZhen-Huan Lu’s disciplined background in life study, western painting techniques and both western and eastern aesthetics, led to his development of a unique American style of poetic realism that aims to make visible the invisibles through his skillful portrayal of familiar scenes and objects. His training also led him to develop equal skill in watercolor, egg tempera, and oil painting; three disparate and difficult media to master.\r\rAlthough people are never depicted in his landscape paintings, Lu’s keen interest remains in human life and emotions; whether it be rocking chairs on the porch on a lazy afternoon or a pair of oars against an aged beach house, human spirit is always present. their way of life provide the subject matter for this watercolor artist. Ray is highly regarded for his detailed rural landscapes and antique still lifes. However, he explains, the real subject of my work is not the aging farm buildings, the rustic old mills or the antiqued crocks and jugs. The real subject is their surfaces. \"I am intrigued by the texture of a crumbling stone wall, the splintered wood of an old wagon or the way the light reflects off a piece of hand-turned stoneware‚Ķthe signs of wear and hard use. How many stories they must have to tell‚Äù. Over the years, Ray has developed a number of texturing methods to accurately depict these signs of aging. He compiled many of them in a book titled, \"Texture Techniques for Winning Watercolors‚Äù, published by Northlight and released in November of 1999 (now out of print).
