He quickly moved to the Medici Court in Florence where he gained an appreciation for classical sculpture and humanist philosophy that shaped and influenced his work. After the death of his patron, Lorenzo de Medici, the artist traveled to Bologna and Rome, continually refining his brilliant technique and establishing his reputation as a dominant force in the arts.\r\rIn May of 1508, Michelangelo accepted a commission from Pope Julius II to paint the Vatican's Sistine Chapel ceiling. Initially, Michelangelo was reluctant to accept the commission, regarding himself a sculptor, but his initial trepidations faded and he began the project in early 1509. Using the centuries-old technique of fresco, Michelangelo worked at a feverish pace under exceptionally adverse conditions. The ceiling decoration devised by Michelangelo consisted of a series of illusionistic architectural elements that frame figures and narrative scenes derived from the Old Testament. Completed four years later in 1512, the ceiling marked the summit of the artist's career as a painter and sealed his reputation as the greatest painter of the High Renaissance.\r\rThe controversial restoration of the ceiling, begun in 1980, has dramatically transformed its appearance, revealing a dazzling array of color, renewing interest in Michelangelo as a colorist. Although the artist devoted the last thirty years of his life almost exclusively to architecture, his powerful paintings remained enormously influential, and continue to stand among the supreme masterpieces of art history. He endured much hardship early in his career but achieved success as a portraitist in the late 1870s. After visiting Italy in 1881-82, he abandoned the Impressionist ideal and developed a softer and more supple kind of handling which is evident in his pictures of young girls in softly colored settings.\r\rHe is perhaps the best-loved of all the Impressionists for his cheerful subject matter - pretty children, flowers, lovely women - and their instant appeal. Manet studied the works of Dutch artist Frans Hals in Holland in 1872. Hals taught him to liberate his brushstrokes when creating and to paint with more energy and verve. These techniques provided a basis for Manet to become one of the founders of the Impressionist Movement.\r\rOne of Manet's most significant works is "Luncheon on the Grass," which depicts a nude model in the presence of two men. This piece provoked and offended the critics of the time who claimed it was pornographic and immoral. After work, the artist would make drawings late into the night. His persistence and hard work paid off when he was granted the coveted Prix de Rome in 1850, which allowed him to study art in Italy for three years. After a series of successful public commissions and with representation from several prestigious international galleries, Bouguereau was elected to the French Academy in 1876, a position he had sought his entire career.\r\rBouguereau was also a respected teacher and often would secretly help students with financial difficulties. Modigliani was Italian by birth, but lived in Paris for most of his adult life. It was there that he encountered the works of Toulouse-Lautrec, Georges Rouault and Pablo Picasso. At this time the strong influence of Paul Cézanne was evident in his deliberate distortion of the figure and free use of large, flat areas of color. His friendship with the Romanian sculptor Constantin Brancusi kindled his interest in sculpture.\r\rAfter 1915, Modigliani devoted himself entirely to painting, producing some of his best portraits. His interest in African masks and sculpture is evident in the treatment of the sitters’ faces: flat and masklike, with almond eyes, twisted noses, pursed mouths and elongated necks. His interest in African masks and sculpture is evident in the treatment of the sitters’ faces: flat and masklike, with almond eyes, twisted noses, pursed mouths and elongated necks. Despite their extreme economy of composition and neutral backgrounds, his portraits convey a sharp sense of the sitter’s personality. His extensive body of work includes altarpieces and religious works, numerous portraits and self-portraits, and copper engravings. Dürer began his training as a draughtsman in the goldsmith's workshop of his father. When he was 15 years old he worked as an apprentice to the painter and woodcut illustrator Michael Wohlgemuth. After working for three years under Wohlgemuth, he traveled through the Netherlands, Alsace, and to Basle, Switzerland, where he completed his first authenticated woodcut. In 1494, he married Agnes Frey, the daughter of a merchant and took his first trip to Italy, a journey that would greatly influence his art. He became very influenced by and involved with the Renaissance, and his graphics ultimately influenced the art of the Italian Renaissance that had originally inspired his own efforts. In the early 1500’s Durer traveled to Italy again, and became very inspired by the work of Giovanni Bellini. He also worked for the Holy Roman emperor Maximilian I for many years. By 1515, he had achieved an international reputation as an artist when he exchanged works with the illustrious High Renaissance painter Raphael. His friendship with the Romanian sculptor Constantin Brancusi kindled his interest in sculpture. After 1915, Modigliani devoted himself entirely to painting, producing some of his best portraits. He went on to develop a sophisticated, graceful style of decorative arabesques and simplified forms. Chase became the most important U.S. art teacher of his generation, first at New York's Art Students League and later at his own school, founded in 1896. His teachings, particularly his advocacy of fresh colour and bravura technique, greatly influenced the course of early 20th-century U.S. painting; among his students were Georgia O'Keeffe and Charles Demuth. As a painter, he was very prolific; his 2,000 paintings include portraits, interiors (e.g., In the Studio, 1880 – 83), figure studies, still lifes, and landscapes characterized by bold, spontaneous brushwork.\r
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0223/4033/products/william-merritt-chase-a-modern-magdalen-about-1888-framed-mcgaw-graphics-602230.jpg?v=1619537034
william-adolphe-bouguereau-cupidon-framed
Cupidon (Framed)

Product Detail

Overall: 16" H x 13" W x 0.75" D

Overall Product Weight: 2.5lb.

Material: Glass

High-quality print on heavy paper

Printed with vibrant, color-fast inks

Framed in a contemporary style molding; available in black, gold, and white

Sawtooth hanger

Unmatted

Image is Copyrighted and Property of its respective owner\r

Product Detail

Overall: 16" H x 13" W x 0.75" D

Overall Product Weight: 2.5lb.

Material: Glass

High quality print on heavy paper

Printed with vibrant, color-fast inks

Framed in a contemporary style molding; available in black, white, and gold

Sawtooth hanger

Unmatted

\r
\r
About the Artist
Tender scenes of children, women, and angels made William-Adolphe Bouguereau one of the most successful artists during France’s Second Empire and continue to make his work popular today.\r\rIn order to earn enough money to attend the Ecoles des Beaux-Arts, France’s most prestigious art school, Bouguereau kept books for a local wine merchant and colored lithographic labels for a grocer. His later works, particularly his formal figure paintings of women, show a more disciplined approach and a break from contemporary themes to more timeless subjects.\r\rIn 1862, he entered the studio of Gleyre and formed lasting friendships with other Impressionists, particularly Claude Monet. He once wrote, "Why shouldn’t art be pretty? There are enough unpleasant things in the world." As a great worshiper of the female form, he mused, "I never think I have finished a nude until I think I could pinch it.\

Product Detail

Overall: 16" H x 13" W x 0.75" D

Overall Product Weight: 2.5lb.

Material: Glass

High-quality print on heavy paper

Printed with vibrant, color-fast inks

Framed in a contemporary style molding; available in black, gold, and white

Sawtooth hanger

Unmatted

© Fred Goudon\r

Product Detail

Overall: 13" H x 16" W x 0.75" D

Overall Product Weight: 2.5lb.

Material: Glass

High quality print on heavy paper

Printed with vibrant, color-fast inks

Framed in a contemporary style molding; available in black, gold, and white

Sawtooth hanger

Unmatted

\r
\r
About the Artist
Fred Goudon was born in Cannes in the south of France on June 1st 1965. Broken Column, 1944

© 2026 Banco de México Diego Rivera Frida Kahlo Museums Trust, Mexico, D.F. / Artists Rights Society (ARS), New York

About the Artist

Frida Kahlo took inspiration from native popular art in order to find and assert her Mexican identity. Working in a primitive style, her paintings are full of odd color combinations, static figures and incredible space and scale. Kahlo experienced tremendous physical and psychological torment throughout her life. When she was fifteen, she was involved in a near fatal streetcar accident which left her with a crushed pelvis, fractured spine and broken foot. This accident was the beginning of a lifelong battle of operations, infection, amputation, and, eventually, death. It was also the beginning of a remarkable series of paintings about pain, confinement and femininity. Almost all of Kahlo's paintings are self-portraits, an autobiography in paint. Kahlo said that many of her contemporaries "thought I was a Surrealist, but I wasn't. I never painted dreams. I painted my own reality." Diego Rivera, Kahlo's husband, gave her house in Coyoacan and its contents to the state to be used as the Frida Kahlo Museum after her death in 1954.
