In 1945 he entered the Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon University) where he majored in pictorial design. Upon graduation, Warhol moved to New York where he found steady work as a commercial artist. He worked as an illustrator for several magazines including Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and The New Yorker and did advertising and window displays for retail stores such as Bonwit Teller and I. Miller. Prophetically, his first assignment was for Glamour magazine for an article titled "Success is a Job in New York."

Throughout the 1950s, Warhol enjoyed a successful career as a commercial artist, winning several commendations from the Art Director's Club and the American Institute of Graphic Arts. In these early years, he shortened his name to "Warhol." In 1952, the artist had his first individual show at the Hugo Gallery, exhibiting Fifteen Drawings Based on the Writings of Truman Capote. His work was exhibited in several other venues during the 1950s, including his first group show at The Museum of Modern Art in 1956.

The 1960s was an extremely prolific decade for Warhol. Appropriating images from popular culture, Warhol created many paintings that remain icons of 20th-century art, such as the Campbell's Soup Cans, Disasters and Marilyns. In addition to painting, Warhol made several 16mm films, which have become underground classics such as Chelsea Girls, Empire and Blow Job. In 1968, Valerie Solanis, founder and sole member of SCUM (Society for Cutting Up Men) walked into Warhol's studio, known as the Factory, and shot the artist. The attack was nearly fatal.

At the start of the 1970s, Warhol began publishing Interview magazine and renewed his focus on painting. Works created in this decade include Maos, Skulls, Hammer and Sickles, Torsos and Shadows and many commissioned portraits. Warhol also published The Philosophy of Andy Warhol (from A to B and Back Again). Firmly established as a major 20th-century artist and international celebrity, Warhol exhibited his work extensively in museums and galleries around the world.

The artist began the 1980s with the publication of POPism: The Warhol '60s and with exhibitions of Portraits of Jews of the Twentieth Century and the Retrospectives and Reversal series. He also created two cable television shows, "Andy Warhol's TV" in 1982 and "Andy Warhol's Fifteen Minutes" for MTV in 1986. His paintings from the 1980s include The Last Suppers, Rorschachs and, in a return to his first great theme of Pop, a series called Ads. Warhol also engaged in a series of collaborations with younger artists, including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Francesco Clemente and Keith Haring.

Following routine gall bladder surgery, Andy Warhol died February 22, 1987. After his burial in Pittsburgh, his friends and associates organized a memorial mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York that was attended by more than 2,000 people.

In late 1987, The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts was duly incorporated in accordance with Warhol’s will, whose mission is for the advancement of the visual arts. In 1989, the Museum of Modern Art in New York had a major retrospective of his works.

Finally, The Andy Warhol Museum opened in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in May 1994.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0223/4033/products/W1158_d264e23a-4e5d-42bb-a5d1-002f998ab6c1.jpg?v=1597348049
leonardo-da-vinci-the-last-supper-1498-post-restoration
The Last Supper, 1498 (post-restoration)
Image is Copyrighted and Property of its respective owner\r
\r
About the Artist
Leonardo da Vinci pursued art as if it were science, fervently studying both the surface and the structure of his subject to best convey its true essence.\r\rLeonardo was born in Vinci, Italy to a notary public and his companion, and displayed considerable artistic talent at a young age. An eccentric and masterful Surrealist in painting and in life, Dali wrote in his diary two years before entering art school in Madrid during the early 1920s: "Perhaps I’ll be despised and misunderstood, . . . but I’ll be a great genius." Throughout his life, Dali cultivated eccentricity and a predisposition towards narcissistic exhibitionism, claiming that his creative energies were derived from it. The spectrum of imagery from fantastic to nightmarish visions which Dali produced are the supreme evidence of these idiosyncrasies. Born in Figueras, Spain, Dali first studied at the École des Beaux Arts in Madrid and was influenced by metaphysical painters de Chirico and Carrà while there. Equally admiring the meticulous realism of the Pre-Raphaelites and French 19th century painters, he began to blend conceptual styles and techniques. Beginning in 1927, Dali exhibited in Madrid and Barcelona, earning a reputation for being one of the most promising younger painters. A visit to Paris in 1928 brought him into contact with Picasso and the Surrealists: Miró, Masson, Ernst, Tanguy and André Breton. Shortly thereafter he became a leading figure of the Surrealist movement. In 1941 he had his first retrospective at The Museum of Modern Art, New York. He quickly moved to the Medici Court in Florence where he gained an appreciation for classical sculpture and humanist philosophy that shaped and influenced his work. After the death of his patron, Lorenzo de Medici, the artist traveled to Bologna and Rome, continually refining his brilliant technique and establishing his reputation as a dominant force in the arts.\r\rIn May of 1508, Michelangelo accepted a commission from Pope Julius II to paint the Vatican's Sistine Chapel ceiling. Initially, Michelangelo was reluctant to accept the commission, regarding himself a sculptor, but his initial trepidations faded and he began the project in early 1509. Using the centuries-old technique of fresco, Michelangelo worked at a feverish pace under exceptionally adverse conditions. The ceiling decoration devised by Michelangelo consisted of a series of illusionistic architectural elements that frame figures and narrative scenes derived from the Old Testament. Completed four years later in 1512, the ceiling marked the summit of the artist's career as a painter and sealed his reputation as the greatest painter of the High Renaissance.\r\rThe controversial restoration of the ceiling, begun in 1980, has dramatically transformed its appearance, revealing a dazzling array of color, renewing interest in Michelangelo as a colorist. Although the artist devoted the last thirty years of his life almost exclusively to architecture, his powerful paintings remained enormously influential, and continue to stand among the supreme masterpieces of art history. So passionately is Barry involved with his art that every one of his photos goes far beyond the usual “image capture" by vividly expressing its subject’s unique emotion. In his vast and eclectic choice of theme, Barry communicates a full gamut of human sensation, from laughter to tears, from awe to understanding, and beyond. In short, the multi-layered character of this artist’s work far exceeds the one-dimensional nature of the medium he has chosen.

For inspiration Hart cites: "I’m endlessly fascinated by the interaction of horses and humans, especially humans of the cowboy variety. As a former horse trainer who continues to dabble at that art, I’m blessed with certain insights into equine behavior that give me something of an edge. Timing is everything and for me it’s a great blessing that I can feel a moment coming before it actually starts to happen- little things like a yawn; the roll of an eye, a faraway gaze, a sudden alertness, a struggle between man and animal, a misstep that’s likely to cause a fall."

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, this man-of-the-west found his way to the homeland of his heart following the siren’s song of the horse. At seventeen, he began an apprenticeship in Andrea Verrocchio’s workshop, remaining there until he had far surpassed the talents of the early Renaissance master. Leonardo then left Florence for the court of Ludovico Sforza in Milan, where he painted portraits, created The Last Supper fresco, and also started producing anatomical, botanical, and scientific sketches. Excited by the artistic renaissance occurring in Florence, Leonardo returned to that city and created his masterpieces - the Mona Lisa and Leda and the Swan (now lost).\r\rAlthough many of Leonardo’s commissions were never completed and several experimental frescoes no longer exist, extensive volumes of his experimental procedures, sketches, and theories have survived, some discovered only in the twentieth century. Leonardo da Vinci’s legacy affirms his position as the paragon of High Renaissance art.
Image © Barry Hart

About the Artist
In the work of this photographic artist, heart is the operative term. He was a coach and sign painter from an early age. In middle age he began to produce paintings of farm scenes and landscapes in a naive, or folk, style. Fearing that art was contrary to his Quaker religion but believing that it might bring meaning to life, he often framed his pictures with edifying verse. He painted his best-known subject, The Peaceable Kingdom, about 100 times; some 25 versions survive. He never visited France, though he spoke fluent French and had French followers and a French wardrobe. His painting, however, was influenced at first by the densely forested, luxuriantly enveloping landscape settings for human figures of Adam Elsheimer, a German painter resident in Rome; "there are few landscapes by Saraceni which have not been attributed to Elsheimer," Malcolm Waddingham observed, and Anna Ottani Cavina has suggested the influences may have travelled both ways and Elsheimer's small cabinet paintings on copper offered a format that Saraceni employed in six landscape panels illustrating The Flight of Icarus in Moses and the Daughters of Jethro and Mars and Venus.\r\rWhen Caravaggio's notorious Death of the Virgin was rejected in 1606 as an altarpiece suitable for a chapel of Santa Maria della Scala, it was Saraceni who provided the acceptable substitute, which remains in situ, the only securely dated painting of his first decade in Rome. He was influenced by Caravaggio's dramatic lighting, monumental figures, naturalistic detail, and momentary action (illustration, right), so that he is numbered among the first of the "tenebrists" or "Caravaggisti". Examples of this style can be seen in the candlelit Judith and the Head of Holofernes.\rSaraceni's matured rapidly between 1606 and 1610, and the next decade gave way to his fully mature works, synthesizing Caravaggio and the Venetians. In 1616–17 he collaborated on the frescoes for the Sala Regia of the Palazzo del Quirinale. In 1618 he received payment for two paintings in the church of Santa Maria dell'Anima. The compositional details of his fresco of The Birth of the Virgin in the Chapel of the Annunciation of the church of Santa Maria in Aquiro are repeated in a panel on copper at the Louvre.\r\rIn 1620 he returned to Venice, where he died in the same year. often referred to as the greatest German Renaissance artist. His extensive body of work includes altarpieces and religious works, numerous portraits and self-portraits, and copper engravings. Dürer began his training as a draughtsman in the goldsmith's workshop of his father. When he was 15 years old he worked as an apprentice to the painter and woodcut illustrator Michael Wohlgemuth. After working for three years under Wohlgemuth, he traveled through the Netherlands, Alsace, and to Basle, Switzerland, where he completed his first authenticated woodcut. In 1494, he married Agnes Frey, the daughter of a merchant and took his first trip to Italy, a journey that would greatly influence his art. He became very influenced by and involved with the Renaissance, and his graphics ultimately influenced the art of the Italian Renaissance that had originally inspired his own efforts. In the early 1500’s Durer traveled to Italy again, and became very inspired by the work of Giovanni Bellini. He also worked for the Holy Roman emperor Maximilian I for many years. By 1515, he had achieved an international reputation as an artist when he exchanged works with the illustrious High Renaissance painter Raphael. He was so influential on the style of an anonymous still life painter working in Rome, that the man is known as "Pensionante del Saraceni\

Product Detail

Overall: 16" H x 13" W x 0.75" D

Overall Product Weight: 2.5lb.

Material: Glass

High-quality print on heavy paper

Printed with vibrant, color-fast inks

Framed in a contemporary style molding; available in black, gold, and white

Sawtooth hanger

Unmatted

© 2026
McGaw Graphics, Inc.

Product Detail

Overall: 13" H x 16" W x 0.75" D

Overall Product Weight: 2.5lb.

Material: Glass

High quality print on heavy paper

Printed with vibrant, color-fast inks

Framed in a contemporary style molding; available in black, white, and gold

Sawtooth hanger

Unmatted

About the Artist
Edward Hicks (born April 4, 1780, Attleboro, Pa., U.S. — died Aug. 23, 1849, Newtown, Pa.) was a U.S. painter. Fearing that art was contrary to his Quaker religion but believing that it might bring meaning to life, he often framed his pictures with edifying verse.

Product Detail

Overall: 16" H x 13" W x 0.75" D

Overall Product Weight: 2.5lb.

Material: Glass

High-quality print on heavy paper

Printed with vibrant, color-fast inks

Framed in a contemporary style molding; available in black, gold, and white

Sawtooth hanger

Unmatted

Image is Copyrighted and Property of its respective owner\r

Product Detail

Overall: 13" H x 16" W x 0.75" D

Overall Product Weight: 2.5lb.

Material: Glass

High quality print on heavy paper

Printed with vibrant, color-fast inks

Framed in a contemporary style molding; available in black, white, and gold

Sawtooth hanger

Unmatted

\r
\r
About the Artist
As sculptor, painter, architect, poet and engineer, Michelangelo Buonarroti stands as the archetype of the Renaissance genius, with a talent that transcends time and continues to influence and inspire contemporary artists.\r\rMichelangelo began his career in Florence in 1488, as an apprentice in the studio of Domenico Ghirlandaio.
