The youngest of five children, Andrew was a sickly child who had to be pulled out of school after contracting whooping cough. He was home-schooled by his parents in every subject including art education. His father, Newel Convers Wyeth, was a well known illustrator whose art was featured in many magazines, calendars, posters and murals. Andrew had a vivid memory and fantastic imagination that led to a great fascination for art. His father recognized an obvious raw talent that had to be nurtured. While his father taught him the basics of traditional academic drawing Andrew began painting watercolor studies of the rocky coast and the sea in Port Clyde Maine. He worked primarily in watercolors and egg tempera and often used shades of brown and grey. He held his first one-man show of watercolors painted around the family’s summer home at Port Clyde, Maine in 1937. It was a great success that would lead to many more. Wyeth married Betsey James at the age of twenty-two and had two boys, Nicholas who became an art dealer, and James who became the third generation artist in his family. Andrew was featured on the cover of American Artist as well as many other famous magazines such as the Saturday Evening Post that displayed his painting "The Hunter". His first solo museum exhibition was presented in 1951 at the Farnsworth Art Museum. Since then he has seen many more successes and is considered one of the most "collectible" living artist’s of our time.
© Art Wolfe\r
\r
About the Artist
Art Wolfe (born 1951) is an American photographer and conservationist, best known for color images of wildlife, landscapes and native cultures. Beginning in 1951, he worked with Eugene Delcroix, a N.O. photographer who was a master of light and composition, and who specialized in soft focus images. In 1971, he studied with Ansel Adams in California at one of the last courses the artist himself taught. He has also been a pupil of Michael A. Smith of Ottsville, Pennsylvania-a master of large format photography-who in 1986 photographed New Orleans for the Historic collection. In 1999 he participated in a Santa Fe workshop on digital photography.\r\rBert’s first one man show was in 1976, at the Gallery Studio 8 in New Orleans. The images in that exposition were mostly scenics in the Adams tradition. In 1978, he began experimenting with using X ray as an art medium, developing the technique of taking radiographs of shells, flowers, and other objects and making B + W positive prints of them. Although the technique is not original, it is quite difficult and not widely done. He wrote an article describing the technique, which was published in Applied Radiology, and articles about his methods have appeared in Medical World News, Art Center and the Free University in N.O., and for 9 years taught a course in advanced darkroom techniques in the Univ. College of Tulane University.\r\rSince 1986 he has been using Cibachrome techniques to make radiographic images in color, including montages of straight photo images with xrays.\r\rBeginning in 1985 he worked with high contrast internegatives and have a large collection of line derivations and solarizations, mainly of historic buildings.\r\rFrom 1987-1997, he became interested in holography and took courses in the subject from Dr. T. Jeong at Lake Forest College in Illinois and Jeffrey Murray at the Holography Institute in Petaluma, California. He started the Holography research Laboratory at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in N.O. and pursued the uses of holography in medicine, especially in education. He has developed techniques of making 3D images of bones, medical models, and human tissue which had been preserved by plastination, and had shows of his work in galleries in the USA, Scotland, and Hungary. His goal was to make a medical text illustrated with holograms. Unfortunately the field of educational and art holography did not progress. The extreme difficulty and cost of making and reproducing the images and the need for special lighting to view them impeded growth. In 1997, AGFA, the main producer of high quality holographic films and plates discontinued production, and Myers decided to abandon holography and concentrate his work in conventional photography, especially using digital technology to make color prints of Xray images.
© Bert Myers\r
\r
About the Artist
Bert Myers is a retired academic physician (Professor of Surgery at LSUMC) who has long had a serious interest in photography as an art medium.
Kenyon Eckhardt Group/Madrid, James Walter Thompson/Madrid, Mc Cann Erickson Group/Madrid, Ogilvy & Mather/Madrid, are some multinational advertising agencies where he gained experience and skills in graphics and audiovisual design for more than 20 years. In 1991 he started his own advertising agency in Madrid and worked as Creative Manager until coming to America for the first time in 1999. His extraordinary draftsmanship, which stressed balance and clarity of outline, became a hallmark of his style. He worked in many media, preferring pastel to all others, and is best known for his intimate, immediate drawings of ballerinas and race horses.\r\rThe son of a wealthy Parisian banker, Degas originally planned to study law but opted to follow his early idol, the painter Jean Auguste Ingres, whose example pointed him in the direction of classical draftsmanship. As a co-founder of the Vienna Secession, a group of artists and architects who formed their own exhibition society and denounced the classical academic training of the time, his work embodied the high-keyed erotic, psychological and aesthetic preoccupations of fin-de-siècle Viennese intellectuals.\r\rKlimt was born in Baumgarten, a suburb of Vienna. His interest in art was nurtured by his father, an engraver. His formal training began at the Kunst-gewerbeschule in Vienna, and later he worked as an artist-decorator in association with his brother. The modern poster, as we know it dates back to 1870 when the printing industry perfected color lithography and made mass production possible. They have ranged in styles from Art Nouveau, Symbolism, Cubism, and Art Deco to the more formal Bauhaus and the hippie posters of the 1960s.Posters, in the form of placards and posted bills, have been used since earliest times, primarily for advertising and announcements. By the 1890s, the technique had spread throughout Europe. A number of noted artists created poster art in this period, foremost amongst them Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Jules Chéret. Chéret is considered to be the "father" of advertisement placards.Chéret developed a new lithographic technique that suited better the needs of advertisers: he added a lot more colour which, in conjunction with innovative typography, rendered the poster much more expressive. Posters soon transformed the thoroughfares of Paris into the "art galleries of the street." Their commercial success was such that some of the artists were in great demand and theatre stars personally selected their own favorite artist to do the poster for an upcoming performance. The popularity of poster art was such that in 1884 a major exhibition was held in Paris.By the 1890s, poster art had widespread usage in other parts of Europe, advertising everything from bicycles to bullfights. By the end of the 19th century, during an era known as the Belle Époque, the standing of the poster as a serious artform was raised even further. Many posters, particularly early posters, were used for advertising products. Posters continue to be used for this purpose, with posters advertising films, music (both concerts and recorded albums), comic books, and travel destinations being particularly notable examples.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0223/4033/products/L614_a72679cb-c6d0-46a0-bbdc-309c6a7c2db8.jpg?v=1597348135
jackson-pollock-one-number-31
One, Number 31
© 2026
The Pollock-Krasner Foundation/ Artists Right Society (ARS), New York

About the Artist

Jackson Pollock - (born Jan. 28, 1912, Cody, Wyo., U.S. — died Aug. 11, 1956, East Hampton, N.Y.) was an American painter. He grew up in California and Arizona. In the early 1930s he studied in New York City under Thomas Hart Benton, and later he was employed on the WPA Federal Art Project. In 1945 he married the artist Lee Krasner. Two years later, after several years of semiabstract work stimulated by psychotherapy, Pollock began to lay his canvas on the floor and pour or drip paint onto it in stages. This process permitted him to record the force and scope of his gestures in trajectories of enamel or aluminum paint that "veiled" the figurative elements found in his earlier work. The results were huge areas covered with complex and dynamic linear patterns that fuse image and form and engulf the vision of the spectator in their scale and intricacy. Pollock believed that art derived from the unconscious and judged his work and that of others on its inherent authenticity of personal expression. He became known as a leading practitioner of Abstract Expressionism, particularly the form known as action painting. Championed by critic Clement Greenberg and others, he became a celebrity. When he died in a car crash at 44, he was one of the few American painters to be recognized during his lifetime and afterward as the peer of 20th-century European masters of modern art.
Image is Copyrighted and Property of its respective owner\r
\r
About the Artist
Though he apparently produced fewer than 40 paintings in his lifetime, Dutch painter Jan Vermeer is one of the most respected artists of the European tradition. Most of Vermeer's paintings are serene, luminous interiors populated by one or two figures.\r\rVermeer grew up in Delft, Holland. He was admitted to the painters' guild in 1653, and was thereafter permitted to sell his art. Vermeer also worked as an art dealer to supplement his income and support his wife and 11 children. Beginning in 1672, war with France ruined Holland's economy, and Vermeer's business failed, too. Soon after, Vermeer died of a stroke at the age of 42, leaving his family bankrupt. Vermeer's paintings were then largely forgotten for nearly 200 years, until 1858 when a French critic began to write admiringly about Vermeer's work.\r\rInterest in Vermeer's work surged again recently with his work exhibited at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. After graduating, however, she spent several years following opportunities in the business and tech industries. Then in 2006 she came back to her love of art, embracing a new career as a full time artist, which she still enjoys today. Preferring to paint from memory, Jennifer layers thin and thick applications of acrylic paint, focusing on the variety of texture and color of the piece in combination with the natural forms of the composition. Trained by abstract expressionists, she paints quickly preferring a gestural style giving her paintings a whimsical fun energy. Her award winning work is well loved and collected worldwide as well as locally in the Northwest where she spends most her time. Over the years, Jennifer has lived in Seattle, Bellingham, and the Skagit Valley. Apprenticed to a woodcut engraver at 15, he became a student of the leading ukiyo-e master, Katsukawa Shunsho, in 1778. His first published works, prints of kabuki actors, appeared the following year. He soon turned to historical and landscape subjects and prints of children. He developed an eclectic style and achieved success with book illustrations and surimono prints ("printed things" for special occasions, such as cards and announcements), picture books and novelettes, erotic books and album prints, paintings, and ink sketches. He experimented with Western-style perspective and use of colour and later concentrated on samurai themes and Chinese subjects. His Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji (1826 – 33), a series of prints, marked a summit in the history of the Japanese landscape print; in grandeur of concept and skill of execution there was little approaching it before and nothing to surpass it later. At seventeen, he began an apprenticeship in Andrea Verrocchio’s workshop, remaining there until he had far surpassed the talents of the early Renaissance master. She began her art career in 1993 by starting her own decorative painting business, Paint Smart. While painting everything from furniture to wall murals she worked with clients and focused on their needs while developing into a talented artist. After twelve very successful years as a decorative painter she turned her focus toward fine art. In 2000, she began studying with local artist Andy Braitman and flourished under his direction for the next six years.\r\rRecognized by her spontaneous brushwork, diversity, and candid use of color her viewers seem to relate and connect to her work. Her paintings convey a certain energy and spontaneity that draws the viewer into her work whether it be a landscape, interior, still life or abstract. Her style brings energy and excitement to the canvas in a very creative, artistic way that is all her own.\r\rAlthough Libby spends a great deal of her time painting she also finds joy in sharing her knowledge with others by teaching workshops or helping individuals. While she loves painting outdoors in nature she spends most of her time devoted to painting in her home studio. Libby has never been content to settle in with just one style of painting, rather she challenges herself to experience and develop as an artist. She broadens her artistic experiences by studying with other well known artists in and around the country as well as abroad. This continuous learning is what excites her and keeps her connected to the art world. \r\rLibby received a B.A. from Converse College and continues to study with Andy Braitman on a regular basis. Parra observed a powerful resilience within the human soul that drives people to rise above their constraints.Parra pursued his art through high school, ultimately earning the Artistic Award for Creative Excellence in a district-wide competition. He went on to study at the San Alejandro School of Art, where he firmly decided upon art as a life-long career.Although a difficult process with significant personal costs, Parra made his way to the United States in 1990 and established himself as a permanent resident. In Cuba, Parra faced certain restrictions that inhibited his ability to express himself. Herein the United States, however, he has found himself creating with boundless, voracious energy. He has exhibited his work all across the country.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0223/4033/products/P1018_176371e7-a33f-4b0d-ac5a-02239a32cbef.jpg?v=1627309642
marc-chagall-birthday
Birthday
© 2026
Artists Rights Society (ARS) / New York / ADAGP, Paris / Chagall®

About the Artist
Marc Chagall was a Russian-born painter and graphic designer whose distinctive use of color and form derived partly from Russian Expressionism with French Cubist influences. His vivid recollections of Russian Jewish village scenes and incidents in his private life were treated with a touch of humor and fantasy. Strong, bright colors portray the world with a dreamlike, non-realistic simplicity and surreal inventiveness. This fusion of fantasy, religion and nostalgia filled his work with a childlike, joyous quality.Born in what is now Belarus, Chagall studied art in St. Petersburg. From 1910-14 he lived in Paris and absorbed the works of leading Cubist, Surrealist and Fauvist painters. From 1918-19 he was director of the Art Academy in Vitsyebsk and then became art director of the Moscow Jewish State Theater, where he painted several murals in the theater lobby and executed sets for several productions. In 1923, he moved permanently to France, except for a brief residence in the U.S. during World War II.Chagall expanded to other forms of art including ceramics, mosaics and stained glass. Among his most famous building decorations are the ceiling of the Paris Opera House, two murals in the lobby of the Metropolitan Opera House, New York, a glass window at the United Nations in New York and decorations in the Vatican.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0223/4033/collections/discount_30b244de-9cc3-4b72-8f2b-c77622448c5f.jpg?v=1474913662
