David E. Gordon has been working exclusively as a fine artist since his graduation from Virginia Commonwealth University, where he received a B.F.A. in Painting & Printmaking. After fifteen years of hand-printing, David decided to turn his attentions to creating mixed-media paintings. Incorporating both aspects of his fine art training, he works with silk screen ink, acrylic, ink washes, oils, pastels and pencils to create his images. The simplified lines and planes of his trees and flowers are combined with dramatic gestures of color and striking contrast to give his each piece its special visual power.
Throughout his career, David has received many special awards and distinctions. During the late 1990s, David was a Personal Studio Assistant for the artist Helen Frankenthaler. He recently accepted the 2005 Best in Show Award from the Naples Invitational Art Festival, an honor he also received in 2003. His work can be found in many public collections at government and corporate institutions, such as the Seibu Museum in Sapporo, Japan and the Atlantic City Court House in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
