Judy Crane paints in three media, each because of its unique qualities. She enjoys the subtle color and translucent sensitivity of watercolor as well as the rich color and soft texture of oil and pastel. Crane is fascinated with the play of light; she strives to capture this fleeting reality in her work and to impart her emotional reaction to it. Crane says, "I am pleased when people express a feeling of 'being there' when viewing my work. In this fast paced age I am often struck with how little time people take to observe the world around them. I hope my paintings can help them focus and appreciate this world, and perhaps look a little more carefully and enjoy a little more." In recent years Crane has concentrated on landscape painting in oil, working on location in France, Italy, Spain, and the United States.
Crane holds a B.S. from the University of California at San Francisco, and has also studied art with a number of artists. Her work has been exhibited at galleries in North Carolina and California and collected by corporations including Wachovia National Bank and Bristol Meyers.
