Ellen Goff began taking photographs when she was about 8 years old, however like so many people her photographs were “snapshots” and simply recorded family and friends. She was
drawn to subjects in nature and began to pursue this interest.
She joined an organization called Earthwatch that matched volunteers with various scientific projects worldwide. She worked on about 16 different projects including tracking echidnas in Australia, observing orangutans in Borneo, and tracking sloth bears in Nepal. During this time she photographed, but the research took precedence over photography.
At this point her passion for photography took over as she strove to capture animals in their natural environment. She has continued to travel all over the world, from Antarctica to the Arctic, both with photographic groups and by herself.
She has won awards in the British Gas/BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year and in Nature’s Best & Cemex Contest. She has been published in many magazines and calendars.
Ellen Goff lives in Bozeman, Montana and enjoys photographing in the wildlife rich area when she is not traveling.
