About the Artist
Having grown up in places as varied as Mexico City, Texas, New York, and Montreal, Paulo Romero has always found inspiration in the uniqueness of his surroundings. Having lived in New York City in his teens, he continues to feel connection with the Big Apple, and life in the big city is one of his favorite painting subjects.
In his paintings, he strives to capture the sights and sounds of city life through the expressive gesture of the brushstroke. About his recent paintings, he says: "At night the colors of the city come to life. Night is the perfect time to capture the moods of the metropolis as lights, reflections, and the movement of people enjoying downtown, transform the hard edges into colors and forms that give us a glimpse into the energy of the city".
