Kim McAninch’s experience as a wallpaper designer and interior designer has laid the groundwork for her textural paintings. She appreciates the balance between representation and design in the creation of her artwork and truly enjoys the process of decision-making that sets her work apart. Her Expressionist style is characterized by arbitrary layering of complex colors with brush and palette knife. Kim prefers not to name her work, except for reference because she encourages the viewer to use the visual information offered to determine the meaning framed in his/her own experiences. Kim has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Surface Pattern Design from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She currently resides in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
