Fascinated by traditional working boats, the America's Cup racing machines, and graceful, classic yachts, Franco Pace has been photographing scores of sailing vessels for over twenty years. Based in Italy, but traveling the world, he is able to capture the sense of excitement and adventure of the sport of sailing in his photographs. His dynamic compositions evoke many feelings and moods, from the shiver we feel observing the bitingly cold boat race set against a dramatic iceberg background to a sense of awe seeing sails rescued from the water. In many photographs, architecture from different harbors acts as a scenic backdrop to the boats themselves.
Pace has created commissions for some of the most important yachting magazines in the world. He has presented his pictures in several exhibitions in different countries, most recently at the Georges Pompidou Centre in Paris.
