About the Artist

Jānis Miglavs is an adventure travel photographer with over 20 years of experience, capturing people and places in 30+ countries. Born in a displaced persons' camp in Germany in 1948 after his family fled Latvia, he learned the importance of culture and loss. His photography journey began in 1976 with a trip through Japan, India, and Nepal, where he immersed himself in local life. Jānis later became a National Geographic photographer, traveling globally for various projects. Now based in Oregon, he's developing a project on endangered tribes and their myths while continuing his editorial and commercial work.
