On June 27th Christie’s of London will feature Picasso’s portrait Femme écrivant (Marie-Thérèse), 1934 as the highlight of their Impressionist & Modern Art Evening Sale. This tender image of Picasso’s lover Marie-Thérèse Walter is thought to be one of his greatest portraits of her and also marks one of the most exceptional phases of Picasso’s career. The painting is estimated to fetch between £25-40m at auction, and will be on view in Hong Kong from June 5-9th before being exhibited in London from June 17th-27th.
