William Montgomery’s new paintings are a departure from the work we initially launched in 2014. After working with digital media for nearly 30 years these new works represent the artist’s return to his painting roots. The son of art historians, William was raised surrounded by the wonders of fine art and architecture from an early age. He developed a deep respect and admiration for abstract artists such as Piet Mondrian and the designs found in Egyptian Art. The new paintings were created over the last two years and represent the artist’s return to many years of active work and study of abstract expressionism, architecture and surrealism. This return to a more tactile method and direct physical contact with the painted surface is part of his lifetime ongoing exploration of pure abstraction in artwork. The work is mixed media incorporating found and shared imagery from his long history of collecting. Preferring the results of chance, the artist doesn’t chart the development of each work. The energy behind the experimental explosions of color and form in his work reflects his lifestyle in Miami. View the William Montgomery print collection.
