Ray Hendershot’s prints have been some of McGaw’s best-selling and most beloved images since we first published his work nearly 20 years ago. Hendershot’s paintings depict wholesome scenes of life from a simpler time: old stone houses blanketed in snow and moonlight, weathered barns, covered bridges and patchwork quilts. His work generates memories of the past (lived or dreamed), capturing quiet moments of peace and comfort. Hendershot’s winter landscapes are not cold and isolating (as Winter can sometimes be), but rather they imbue the warmth of the hearth that is not seen but felt in the windows softly aglow.
It is this time of year, as summer transitions to autumn, and autumn into winter, that we see interest especially piqued in Ray’s portfolio. His highly detailed rendering of the textures of these rustic farm buildings, old mills, and vintage crocks and jugs provide collectors with a deeper understanding of these things that are familiar.
Based in rural Pennsylvania, Ray Hendershot is inspired by the stone architecture and countryside surrounding him. He has written a book on watercolor texture techniques, and “My World”, a retrospective of his work spanning six decades. Ray Hendershot’s remarkable portfolio of 70 images is available in a range of sizes on paper and canvas. Shop Ray Hendershot Prints.
